Thanks to the amazing support of the RSPCA, we can now offer dog and cat food to people who visit the community fridge on a Thursday – so please feel free to mention if you have a pet that you’re struggling to feed. We also have our toy-box for little children, so if you’re collecting… Continue reading Community Fridge new offerings …

Weald Community Fridge success story

Before we get into some good news – would anybody like these lovely house-shaped shelves, donated by one of Weald’s fantastic volunteers last year? They’ve been a valuable part of our work, but our new stainless steel shelving is about to arrive and we need a new home for the white ones. The wooden ones… Continue reading Weald Community Fridge success story

Weald community fridge – 2020

It’s a good time to look back on our successes. We’ve had an amazing partnership with Tesco, Coop and Waitrose, who’ve supplied us with surplus food throughout the year. In addition, we were a Waitrose local charity in December, and were given a cheque for £330 to help fund our work in future. Since March… Continue reading Weald community fridge – 2020

At the peak of the previous lockdown 3001 emergency food parcels and 3966 meals were distributed a week. Recent research shows that some families had just £8.53 per person a week food budget. Imagine trying to feed… Continue reading Hungry at Christmas – how you can help

Weald gets safer …

As we head into the next lockdown, we’ve been reconsidering how we can keep our community fridge and food deliveries going and keep our volunteers safe. This will definitely help! Courtesy of the Sussex Police Safety fund, we’ve not only be able to purchase aprons and more masks and gloves, but also wonderful high visibility… Continue reading Weald gets safer …

Weald’s first Soup Sunday

Despite the weather, we had a wonderful time! Nakao and Yayoi spent hours making miso soup and rice balls. Our purple gazebo made a wonderful and COVID-19 safe way of serving food. We had a socially distanced queue, and fortunately it didn’t rain while we were serving soup. And many happy soup eaters! We also… Continue reading Weald’s first Soup Sunday
